Menstrual Cycle Adapted Training with Sabrina Dieskau

Kevin and Wiebke are joined by Sabrina Dieskau, a trainer, nutritionist, sprinter, and founder of Female Performance Coaching, for a conversation about menstrual cycle-adapted training.

Sabrina explains how female sex hormones can affect training, recovery, nutrition, sleep, and overall performance. After struggling with her own nutrition and sprint performance, she discovered the work of Dr. Stacy Sims and started diving deeper into how women can train more effectively by understanding their cycle.

The conversation covers the different phases of the menstrual cycle, why tracking your cycle is the first step, how training intensity can shift throughout the month, and why recovery and fueling become especially important in certain phases. They also talk about contraception, the pill, IUDs, period pain, and why this topic is still often treated as a taboo in sport.

A very insightful episode for female athletes, coaches, and anyone who wants to better understand how the female body can respond to training.
