Pregnancy & sports with Mariska Korssen

Pregnancy changes a lot, physically, mentally, and emotionally, but it does not automatically mean movement has to stop.

For this episode, Kevin and Wiebke are joined by Mariska Korssen, coach at Unscared Fitness and pre- and postnatal coach. After becoming a mother herself, Mariska became interested in how pregnancy affects training, strength, recovery, breathing, pelvic floor function, and the way women can safely stay active before and after birth.

Together, they talk about what actually changes in the body during pregnancy, from breathing and blood flow to posture, joints, core pressure, and pelvic floor function. Mariska explains why movement can still be very valuable during pregnancy, but also why it needs to be adjusted based on the individual, the trimester, and the signs the body gives.

The conversation also covers running during pregnancy, strength training, high-impact movements, postpartum recovery, diastasis, pelvic floor physiotherapy, and why “just listen to your body” is not always enough without the right knowledge.

A practical and honest conversation for active women, partners, coaches, and anyone who wants to better understand pregnancy, training, and returning to movement after birth.
