WTC #12
Berlin Bagels with Lisa & Maurizio
The Berlin Bagels started the way many great running crews do: with a few friends, a shared love for running, and a lot of food afterwards.
For this episode, Kevin and Wiebke are joined remotely by Lisa and Maurizio, two of the founders of the Berlin Bagels, a Berlin-based running crew built around friendship, community, and keeping the spirit of running fun and personal.
They talk about how the crew grew out of Nike Run Club meetups, why the name “Berlin Bagels” stuck, and how their group stayed close even without a traditional weekly public run structure.
The conversation also dives into running during COVID, virtual challenges, relay races, the energy of marathon cheer zones, and why community can make running feel less intimidating — especially for people who do not see themselves as “fast enough” to join a crew.
A warm conversation about friendship, food, running, and the kind of crew spirit that makes people come back for more.
